I have just discovered your blog.
I am a public health nurse working in Central Australia, with a large proportion of my work being with indigenous people. There is no slavery here, but large groups of indigenous people are extremely marginalised from mainstream society and there is a lot of disadvantage and poverty.
In September this year I am taking 14 months off, and plan to travel. Africa will probably be my first port of call, and so I have been scouring the web for ideas, and currently looking at a volunteering project in Rwanda for a couple of months.
While searching for overland trips between Kampala and Kigali, I encountered your fantastic blog!
You seem like someone I will learn a lot from, and so happy to have discovered this blog!

The sentence: two years in prison or a fine of 300,000 shillings (about $130). He paid the fine, but thankfully the message was still clear.
